Hirons & Company tapped Richmarc to produce a spot for the opening of the new Tiger Forest Exhibit for the Indianapolis Zoo. The new exhibit puts zoo visitors closer to the tigers than ever before, with only an inch and a half of glass separating the customers from the large cats. The concept, created by copywriter Greg Ballard and art director Pam Linsley of Hirons & Company, involved asking enthusiastic zoo goers what they thought separated humans from tigers, which proved to be a fun way to interact with the crowd.
There was only one problem; the tiger exhibit was still under construction during production. But through the collaborative efforts of the Hirons team, headed up by creative director, Tom Aschauer and including Meghan Hirons, traffic dir./producer, Lori Snow, account manager, along with Richmarc director Rick Thompson and the staff at the Indianapolis Zoo, a plan was put together, and production went underway without a hitch. And even exceeded expectations, according to Aschauer, "It was critical that we get this spot shot, and with the construction of the exhibit, we were pressed. Rick suggested an all hand-held approach with the camera to give the spot some edge and a documentary feel. Richmarc not only delivered us one spot but also had so much great footage, we were able to get three spots out of the shoot."
