From the Consumer Desk at Richmarc: Recently a television Rick purchased for his parents failed. The TV was a Toshiba 32" panel set, about 15 months old and out of its 12 month warranty. Toshiba is among the most reliable sets out there so it seemed like a good idea to get it fixed. On a suggestion from a friend, Rick contacted MasterCard to inquire if his card offered an expanded warranty on purchases made with the card and low and behold, it did! It was a painless process, too. They doubled the manufacturer's warranty, in this case one year, and it was still within the expanded two year coverage. MasterCard asked for a copy of the warranty, (found in the manual) a copy of the sales receipt (in this case, he had it, but Best Buy can also furnish one) a copy of his charge card billing statement (showing the purchase), and a copy of the repair charge. Rick submited everything and in about eight days, VOILIA! There was a check for FULL reimbursement of the repair. WOW!
